Reviewers loved this plumber-approved pick and said it stacked up well against other similar models with its long, easy-to-maneuver hose, quality flow settings, and easy installation. With any product bought online, there are bound to be a few cons, and a few buyers mentioned their models falling or breaking—though note that there is a limited lifetime warranty for this product. To avoid some other issues, try using a plumber’s tape to secure the showerhead (and don’t overtighten), and keep in mind that you shouldn’t expect this unit to necessarily improve your water pressure if you already have low pressure.

Dual Shower Heads FAQs

Can I use a dual shower head setup with just one valve?

Yes, you absolutely can, but both of the shower heads would share the same temperature. If you’re not really fussy with the two having the same temperature, then it’s okay.

Does a dual shower head setup increase the water pressure?

Your showerhead will likely have less of an effect on your water pressure than other things such as the flow rate of your water, the width of your pipes, and other aspects. Depending on the current pressure of your water, adding a second showerhead can actually cause a slight decrease in water pressure when both are in use. Also, smaller pipes may be less equipped to carry the volume of water needed to maintain high pressure, so make sure you understand the ins and outs of your plumbing when installing a dual showerhead.

How can I check the quality of the showerhead before buying it?

We highly recommend that you check out the reviews section on Amazon. Many reviewers share their experience with the product, and that can help you choose the best one for you.

Buying Guide: Dual Shower Heads

Who knew buying a showerhead could be so complicated? All you want is a luxurious shower experience, but for better or worse, that requires becoming a temporary expert on topics like water pressure and flow rate. To help you out, we’ve done the research on a few key dual showerhead aspects that you should know about.

Water Pressure

Time and again you’ll see water pressure come up as either a big plus for a showerhead or a major complaint. In the FAQ above, we touched on what affects your water pressure, but we’ll dig deeper here. In reality, using two showerheads at once absolutely can reduce your water pressure. Some will only experience a minor reduction, while the difference may be more noticeable for others. If you have a well, for example, installing a dual showerhead may exceed your well’s output capacity, causing a drop in water pressure. Likewise, the standard pipe size can’t always accommodate the water needs for two showerheads. In situations like these, you may need to pursue more extensive renovations to get the pressure you want. It’s worth mentioning that many reviewers of the products we listed here mention no problems with water pressure, so poor pressure is not a guarantee.

Water Flow Rate

One of the criteria we included for the dual showerheads in this list was water flow—but how exactly is water flow defined and what do different flow rates mean?

Water rate is measured in GPM (gallons per minute), and the GPM of the shower heads in this list ranges from 1.8 to 2.5, which is the legal limit for GPM as of 1992. Before new, water-saving mandates came into place, older shower heads could reach GPMs of 3.5 or higher. This may explain a drop in pressure if you upgrade an old high-pressure shower head to a new dual shower head.

Water Restrictors

If you read through the reviews for any of the shower heads included here, you’ll see at least one person doing the same “hack” to improve low water pressure: removing the water restrictor. The water restrictor is a small part inside a shower head designed to keep water flow to a maximum of 2.5 GPM, as required by government water flow restrictions. While the restrictor can reduce your water pressure, it can also save you money on your energy bills. We don’t recommend removing the water restrictor—and many manufacturers agree—but note that there is at least one shower head on this list that includes tools for removing the device.
