How to Make Garlic Knots

To make these garlic knots you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 16-ounce tube refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Once you have your ingredients gathered, we will use this method:

  • Prep. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray. In a small bowl, whisk together butter, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, parsley and salt; set aside.
  • Shape. Halve each of the 8 biscuits, making 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a 5-inch rope, about 1/2-inch thick, and tie into a knot, tucking the ends. Place knots onto the prepared baking sheet and brush each knot with half of the butter mixture.
  • Bake. Place into oven and bake until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Enjoy! Serve immediately, brushed with the remaining butter mixture.

Tips and Tricks to Perfect Baked Garlic Knots

Can I make dough ahead of time and chill until ready? Simply bake garlic knots as called for in the recipe below… and then bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes until piping hot. Brush with a little extra garlic butter for even more flavor!

Can I use fresh herbs? While this recipe is designed to be a quick and easy appetizer with ingredients you have on hand, it can absolutely be used with fresh herbs and is often more flavorful. To use fresh herbs in this recipe, reduce herbs by 1/3. Fresh herbs offer more flavor than dried herbs, so you’ll use less.

Add cheese before baking. I prefer to generously sprinkle rolls with parmesan cheese before baking.

How to cut dough. To quickly cut dough, use a pizza cutter.

How to handle sticky dough. If dough is too sticky to handle, chill in refrigerator until less tacky to the touch.

Serve with butter. For the best flavor, warm up some marinara to dip your garlic knots in – or dip in warmed butter with some garlic powder and parmesan cheese.

Serve with sauce. These easy baked garlic knots are perfect alongside a delicious chicken pasta dinner, alongside a baked pork tenderloin, and with a lemon garlic baked cod recipe – but it is also divine dipped into a number of delicious sauces! I’m adding my favorite ideas to dip your baked garlic parmesan knots in below:

  • Fresh drawn butter.
  • Butter with lemon and garlic.
  • Hot marinara sauce.
  • Pesto.
  • Olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
  • Hummus.
  • Ranch Dressing.
