Today my fluff Roxi turned one! Happy kitty cake day Roxi! As her most humble servant, it was up to me to do something for the occasion.I knew I wanted to make a special treat for her birthday, but also had to take her diet into consideration. While Roxi is a bit of a chonker (big and beautiful) and has a very healthy appetite she does have a sensitive stomach, which means most of the fish heavy recipes online were out of the question. With a little trial and error I was able to create the perfect no bake cat cake recipe for all cats to enjoy on their happy cake day.
No Bake Cat Cake Recipe | Chicken or Fish
Due to these dietary needs I decided to opt for a chicken based “cake” for the birthday girl, adding in a touch of tuna for flavor. Something she would love the taste of, but that her stomach would also be able to handle.
Normally my little pudge is super picky, but judging from the speed at which she gobbled the “cake” down, I would say it was a success.
Please note; this recipe is intended as a little indulgence. This was a special occasion, which meant a delicious treat was called for. If you want to start making your own cat food I highly recommend talking to a veterinarian or dietary expert.
Ingredients:
½ a 5oz can of flaked chicken*
2 tbsp flaked tuna (drained)
2 tbsp sweet potato puree (I used organic baby food)
Garnish of your choice
No Bake Cat Cake Recipe Instructions:
- In a bowl combine flaked chicken and tuna. Combine well making sure to break up any larger pieces.
- Add in sweet potato puree a little bit at a time. The sweet potato is used to make sure your cake holds its shape.
- Fend off your cat as it tries to climb onto the counter at the smell of chicken and tuna.
- Pat mixture into a patty shape. If you want to get fancy you can form a patty and then cut it out with a circle cutter.
- Transfer onto a dish of your choice and garnish however you’d like. I chose to add a little dollop of mashed potato in place of a candle, and a small bit of finely shredded carrot for color.
*Note; If your cat is a fan, and their stomach can handle fish then feel free to swap out the measurements for chicken and tuna, Happy kitty cake day!
